Seal and method for manufacturing a seal

Abstract

A seal (100) for sealing a first component (110) against a second component (130) rotatable about an axis (120) relative to the first component (110), comprising the following features: a sealing lip (170) designed to bear against the first component (110) with a sealing area (180), wherein the sealing lip (170) has at least in the sealing area (180) a conveying structure (200) designed to cause a liquid medium to flow from a first side (210) of the seal (100) to a second side (220) of the seal (100) facing away from the first side (210) of the seal (100) along the axis (120) when the first component (110) is rotated relative to the second component (130) along at least one direction of rotation about the axis (120); wherein the conveying structure (200) comprises at least one conveying groove (230) which extends extends along a direction of extension;and wherein the conveying structure (200) further comprises at least one retaining structure (240) which is arranged in the at least one conveying groove (230) and reduces a cross-section of the at least one conveying groove (230) perpendicular to the direction of extension along at least one direction to a value between 50% and 90% of the extent of the cross-section of the conveying groove (230) outside the at least one retaining structure (240) along the direction in question.
