Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to an adapter for fastening a tool to a tool holder on a drive shaft of a machine tool which can preferably be driven in a rotationally oscillating manner about a tool rotation axis.
[0002] Handheld, rotary oscillating machine tools have been used for years with a variety of tools to perform grinding, sawing, cutting, and similar tasks. A wide variety of tools are available for this purpose, such as cutting knives, saw blades, sanding plates, sanding fingers, etc., each of which must be designed to connect to a dedicated machine tool holder. Various machine tool manufacturers have developed different holder systems for this purpose, which generally only accommodate special tools adapted to these holder systems. In some cases, specific adapters are available on the market that allow a tool designed for one tool holder to be attached to a different tool holder.
[0003] DE 11 2011 104 344 discloses an adapter that makes it possible to connect a tool whose interface shape differs from the shape of the work spindle of an oscillating machine spindle. The adapter has protruding elements on one side that correspond to the shape of the machine's work head, and projections on the other side that engage in recesses in a tool. The adapter, including the tool, can be attached to the work spindle of a machine by means of a screw connection.
[0004] US 2011 / 0291368 discloses an adapter having grooves and projections at its drive end facing the end of a shaft of a multi-function tool, and projections at its tool end facing a working element, whereby a tool can be connected to a machine.
[0005] DE 102 07 152 discloses an adapter that enables a connection between the spindle of a drill and the body of a drill chuck. The adapter has a machine spindle mount, a tool mount, and a device for detachably connecting it to the body of the drill chuck. This makes it possible to convert a drill with a conventional drill spindle and provide a tool mount in the drill spindle.
[0006] The disclosed adapters have an interface which is adapted, on the one hand, to a specific tool holder for a tool and, on the other hand, to another tool holder on the machine tool.
[0007] Against this background, the object of the invention is to create an adapter for fastening a tool to a tool holder on a drive shaft of a machine tool, which adapter allows the most flexible possible use for different tools.
[0008] This object is achieved by an adapter for fastening a tool to a tool holder on a drive shaft of a machine tool, which can preferably be driven in a rotationally oscillating manner about a tool rotation axis, wherein the adapter has a first side with a first end face and an adjoining first connection region and a second side with a second end face and an adjoining second connection region, wherein both connection regions are designed for a positive connection with an associated tool holder of the drive shaft, wherein both connection regions each have a plurality of drive surfaces which are at least partially inclined with respect to a radial plane extending perpendicular to the tool rotation axis and with respect to an axial plane enclosing the tool rotation axis, such thatthat the adapter can be positively connected to the tool holder selectively with its first or its second connection region, wherein the adapter has a cavity in which a core is displaceably and rotationally fixedly held between two axial end positions, wherein the core can be coupled to the tool at least in one of the axial end positions.
[0009] The object of the invention is achieved in this way.
[0010] The adapter according to the invention is provided, on the one hand, for connection to a tool holder of a drive shaft of a machine tool, which is designed three-dimensionally in such a way that a plurality of drive surfaces are provided which are at least partially inclined with respect to a radial plane extending perpendicular to the tool rotation axis, as well as with respect to an axial plane that includes the tool rotation axis. The adapter can be connected to such a tool holder in a form-fitting manner. Since the core can be displaced between two axial end positions on the adapter and is held in a rotationally fixed manner, depending on the axial end position of the core, either one adapter side or the other adapter side can be used for the form-fitting connection to a specific tool. This allows two different tool types to be attached to the same drive shaft tool holder using a single adapter, depending on whether the first or second end face faces the tool. This provides extremely flexible usage.
[0011] According to a further embodiment of the invention, the core, at least in one of the axial end positions, has a contour that protrudes from the associated end face and allows a positive connection with an associated counter-contour of a tool.
[0012] In this way, the core itself is used to positively transmit torque to the tool.
[0013] In a preferred development of the invention, the core is penetrated by a threaded bore into which a screw can be screwed optionally from the first or second side in order to fix the core in the first or second end position.
[0014] According to a further development of this embodiment, a cap is provided for support on a tool with a central recess through which a screw can be screwed to the core.
[0015] In this way, the adapter can be firmly connected directly to a first tool or to a second tool using the screw and the other side of the adapter can be used to connect to the drive shaft of the machine tool.
[0016] According to a further embodiment of the invention, a raised outer contour is formed at least on the first or the second end face, which can be positively connected to an associated counter-contour of a tool.
[0017] In this case, the first or second contour or the outer contour preferably has the shape of a polygon, in particular a star-shaped polygon with preferably twelve outwardly pointing projections and two recesses each pointing inwards between adjacent projections and arranged at an angle to one another.
[0018] In this way, a connection of the adapter to a tool is made possible which has a star-shaped receiving opening in the form of a star-shaped polygon with twelve outwardly pointing projections and two recesses arranged at an angle to one another between adjacent projections pointing inwards, as known for example from US 6 796 888 82, which is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety.
[0019] According to a further embodiment of the invention, a first or second contour or an outer contour has a plurality of form-locking elements which are arranged equidistant from one another along a circle, wherein in particular twelve form-locking elements with radially extending side surfaces are provided.
[0020] In this way, the adapter can be positively connected to a tool whose fastening opening has a plurality of positive locking elements arranged equidistant from one another along a circle, wherein in particular twelve positive locking elements with radially extending side surfaces are provided, as is known, for example, from DE 10 2004 050 798 A1, which is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety.
[0021] According to a further embodiment of the invention, the first or second contour or the outer contour has a plurality of outwardly pointing rounded tips, wherein adjacent rounded tips are connected to one another by curved sections leading towards the tool rotation axis to form a continuous closed curve, wherein in particular four rounded tips are provided which are delimited by straight side flanks, wherein between the side flanks of adjacent rounded tips a partial circular cut concentric with respect to the tool rotation axis is arranged.
[0022] In this way, a positive connection of the adapter to a tool is possible, the fastening opening of which is adapted to such a shape, as is known, for example, from US 6 945 862 82, which is incorporated herein in its entirety by reference.
[0023] According to a further embodiment of the invention, the first and the second connecting region each have a spatial polygonal contour with a plurality of at least partially flat drive surfaces which are inclined both with respect to a radial plane and with respect to an axial plane extending through the tool rotation axis.
[0024] Preferably, the drive surfaces are arranged rotationally symmetrically around the tool rotation axis.
[0025] Further preferably, the drive surfaces are arranged substantially in the form of a star-shaped polygon, with preferably twelve outwardly pointing, angularly equidistant star-shaped projections, between which two mutually inclined, at least partially flat drive surfaces are arranged.
[0026] With such a design, the adapter can be connected on the machine side to a tool holder having a three-dimensional design such as that known from the German utility model application DE 202013006900.7, which is incorporated herein in its entirety by reference.
[0027] According to a further embodiment of the invention, the adapter has a first adapter part and a second adapter part, which are connected to one another, in particular pressed, welded, soldered or glued to one another, along a preferably radial joining plane, which preferably connects the first to the second connection region.
[0028] The two adapter parts can preferably be made of sintered metal and can preferably be connected to each other via a press fit.
[0029] Such a design enables a simple and cost-effective manufacturing method for the adapter.
[0030] Preferably, mutually associated form-locking elements and form-locking counter-elements are provided on the first and second adapter parts, which engage in a form-locking manner.
[0031] In this way, the connection between the two adapter parts is relieved of the torque to be transmitted, since the torque transmission takes place in particular via the mutually associated form-locking elements and form-locking counter-elements on the two adapter parts.
[0032] According to a further embodiment of the invention, the cavity within the adapter has substantially the shape of a hollow cylinder having on its outer surface a plurality of extensions extending in the radial direction, to which corresponding projections on the core are assigned in order to ensure a rotationally fixed guidance of the core together with an axial displaceability in the cavity.
[0033] With such a design, a simple torque transmission from the adapter via the core to the tool is ensured in a form-fitting manner.
[0034] According to a further embodiment of the invention, a recess is provided on each of the two end faces through which the core can protrude in its respective end position, and wherein the recess preferably has, at least in sections, a central circle whose diameter is coded with an associated projection on the drive shaft.
[0035] In this way, a coding between the adapter and the drive shaft of the machine tool can be ensured, which depends on the diameter of the associated projection on the drive shaft.
[0036] An adapter can have a first end face and a second end face, each with a recess whose central circle has different diameters on the first and second end faces for tools of different series.
[0037] In this way, different tools from different series can be coded via the different adapters based on the diameter of the central circle of the recess in the end face with an associated projection on a machine tool.
[0038] For example, it is conceivable that certain tools requiring high torque in a rotary oscillating drive can only be connected to a correspondingly designed machine tool with a sufficiently high drive power. In contrast, tools requiring only a lower drive power can be connected to either high- or lower-power machine tools.
[0039] The design can be such that tools requiring the highest drive power of an associated machine tool are coded with the smallest drive shaft diameter via the adapter, while tools requiring the lowest drive power have a correspondingly larger diameter. Thus, tools requiring high drive power can only be operated with a specially adapted machine tool, while tools requiring lower drive power can be combined with machine tools with high drive power or with a machine tool with higher drive power.
[0040] Further features and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the following description of preferred embodiments with reference to the drawings. Fig. 1 an enlarged section through an adapter according to the invention, which is combined with a tool and is fixed to a tool holder on a drive shaft of a hand-held machine tool by means of a clamping element; Fig. 2 an enlarged view of the adapter according to Fig. 1 with a tool attached at one end, which is connected by a screw to a core inside the adapter; Fig. 3 a perspective view of the adapter in a first oblique view; Fig. 4 a view of the adapter according to Fig. 3 from the side of the second end face, which is in Fig. 3 can be seen; Fig. 5 a view of the adapter according to Fig. 3, with the first end face visible on the other side of the adapter; Fig. 6a) to 6c) Views of the adapter according to the Fig. 3 to 5, where Fig. 6a) the opinion according to Fig. 5 corresponds, Fig. 6b) a side view of the adapter according to Fig. 6a) and Fig. 6c) the view of the adapter according to Fig. 4, each on a smaller scale than the Fig. 3 to 5; Fig. 7a) to 7c) perspective views of two adapter parts ( Fig. 7a) and Fig. 7c)) before they are connected together, and an associated core ( Fig. 7b)), which is enclosed in a cavity of the adapter so that it can be moved axially but is fixed against rotation; Fig. 8 shows an alternative embodiment of an adapter according to the invention, which is designed on one side for a positive connection with a tool having twelve form-locking elements arranged equidistantly along a circle; and Fig. 9 a simplified representation of a hand-held rotary oscillating driven machine tool, to whose drive shaft a tool with an adapter according to the invention is attached.
[0041] In Fig. 1 shows an enlarged section of the fastening of an oscillating tool 32 by means of an adapter 10 to the outer end of a drive shaft 12 of a rotary oscillating driven machine tool.
[0042] In the machine tool 90, which is shown schematically in Fig. As shown in Figure 9, a drive shaft 12 protrudes outwardly from the machine head, to the outer end of which the tool 32 is attached by means of the adapter 10. The drive shaft 12 has a longitudinal axis 92, about which a rotary oscillating drive can be driven in a rotary oscillation manner with a small pivot angle of approximately 0.5° to 7° and a high frequency in the range of approximately 5,000 to 25,000 oscillations per minute.
[0043] Such machine tools 90 have long been known and are used for numerous cutting, grinding, and separating operations. Here, the tool 32 is mounted on the outer end of the drive shaft 12 by means of the adapter 10 such that the tool rotation axis 16 coincides with the longitudinal axis 92 of the drive shaft 12.
[0044] In the case shown, the machine tool 90 has Fig. 9 additionally has a clamping mechanism 40, by means of which the tool 32 is clamped to the drive shaft 12 without the need for a tool. This is already known in principle (see DE 202013006901.5, which, however, is not pre-published and is incorporated herein by reference).
[0045] The drive shaft 12 has a recess at its outer end, in which a three-dimensional tool holder 18 is formed on the inner surface. The shape of the tool holder 18 is described in detail in the unpublished German utility model application DE 202013006900.7, which is incorporated herein by reference. The tool holder 18, together with an associated receiving section on the tool, enables a positive connection between the tool and the tool holder, whereby the required axial fixation of the tool 32 on the drive shaft 12 is ensured by the clamping mechanism 40.
[0046] The adapter 10 according to the invention now makes it possible to attach a tool 32, which is provided with a fastening opening 36 whose shape is not matched to the tool holder 18, to the drive shaft 12 with the aid of the adapter 10. The adapter 10 is designed such that two different tools 32 can be attached to the drive shaft 12 using a single adapter, depending on which side of the adapter 10 faces the drive shaft 12.
[0047] The adapter 10 has on its outer surface a first end face 22 on the first side and a second end face 26 on the opposite second side. Each of the end faces 22 and 26 is adjoined on the outer surface by a connecting region, namely a first connecting region 20 and a second connecting region 24, the outer surface of which is matched to the three-dimensionally designed inner surface of the tool holder 18 on the drive shaft 12. This results in a positive connection, regardless of whether the adapter 10 is inserted into the tool holder 18 with its first connecting region 20 or whether the adapter 10 is turned over and inserted into the tool holder 18 of the drive shaft 12 with its second connecting region 24.
[0048] A cavity 50 is provided within the adapter 10 (cf. Fig. 2), in which a core 28 is axially displaceable but rotationally fixed. The core 28 is penetrated by a central threaded bore.
[0049] The core 28 can be moved into two axial end positions. In each of these end positions, the core 28 protrudes outward with one axial end through the associated end face 22 or 26 of the adapter 10 and, when adapted to the shape of the mounting opening 36 of the tool 32, can thus directly ensure a positive connection between the tool 32, the core 28, and the adapter 10, and thus with the drive shaft 12.
[0050] In the Fig. 1 and Fig. 2, the core 28 is in such a position that it protrudes through the second end face 26 and engages positively in the fastening opening 36 of the tool 32. In this position, the core 28 is fastened to the tool 32 by means of a screw 38, in that the screw 38 extends through a central recess 39 of a cap 42 and is screwed into the threaded bore 30 of the core 28. The tool 32 is thus in the Fig. 2 is firmly connected to the adapter 10 and secured in a form-fitting manner.
[0051] Out of Fig. 2 it can also be seen that the adapter 10 is composed of two adapter parts 46, 48 which are connected to one another along a radial joining plane 44.
[0052] The more precise shape of the adapter 10 will now be described below using the Fig. 3 to 5 are explained in more detail.
[0053] From the perspective view according to Fig. 3, the shape of the two connecting regions 20, 24, which are separated from one another by the joining plane 44, is clearly visible. Each connecting region 20, 24 has a three-dimensional outer surface, comprising a star-shaped polygon with twelve outward-facing, angularly equidistant, star-shaped projections 58, between which two mutually inclined, at least partially flat drive surfaces 59, 60 are arranged. The shape of such a connecting region 20 or 24 can be approximately described as a "Guglhupf" (round cake), with a "double Guglhupf" being formed by the two connecting regions 20, 24, which extend mirror-inverted to both sides along the joining plane 44.
[0054] On the side of the first end face 22 of the adapter 10, the core 28 protrudes outwardly through a recess 62 in the second end face 26. The projection has four outward-facing, rounded tips 54, with adjacent rounded tips 54 being connected to one another by curved sections leading towards the tool rotation axis 16 to form a continuous, closed curve, with each rounded tip 54 being delimited on both sides by a straight side flank 55, with a pitch circle section 56 concentric with respect to the tool rotation axis 16 being arranged between the side flanks 55 of adjacent rounded tips 54.
[0055] This design corresponds to a specific form of a tool holder of a drive shaft, as disclosed in particular by US 6 945 862 82. On the end face 26, a raised ring section 57 is provided on the edge, on which the tool 32 is mounted according to Fig. 2, while the fastening opening 36 of the tool 32, which corresponds to the shape of the second contour 52 according to Fig. 3, is positively connected to the core 28 and is secured by the screw 38.
[0056] While Fig. 4 shows the adapter 10 from the side of the second end face 26, Fig. 5 the adapter 10 from the side of the first end face 22. The first end face 22 has a raised outer contour 64 according to Fig. 5, which is star-shaped, with twelve outwardly projecting projections 66, between which recesses 67, 68 are formed. This shape is already known in the prior art and is used for certain tools (see, for example, Fig. 10 according to US 6 796 888 82).
[0057] If the adapter 10 is used in such a way that the first end face 22 faces the tool 32, a tool 32 whose shape of the fastening opening 36 corresponds to this star shape can be positively connected to the adapter 10.
[0058] The core 28 has on both sides a raised contour 52 or 72, which corresponds to the previously described Fig. 3 described contour with four rounded tips and straight side flanks 55 as well as with respect to the tool rotation axis 16 concentric pitch circle sections 56.
[0059] Fig. 7a) and Fig. 7c) show the first adapter part 46 and the second adapter part 48 in perspective view, before the adapter parts 46, 48 are assembled with the core 28 in between. In each of the two end faces 26 according to Fig. 7c) or 22 according to1 Fig. 6a) there is a corresponding shape of the recess 62 through which the core 28 with the first contour 72 or the second contour 52 can protrude in a raised manner.
[0060] In the case of using the adapter with its first end face 22 on the side of the tool 32, the outwardly projecting first contour 72 is not important, since the first contour 72 with the four rounded tips is located within the raised star-shaped outer contour 64 according to Fig. 5. This means that the associated fastening opening of the tool 32 is correspondingly larger than the fastening opening of tools with four rounded tips 54 according to Fig. 3.
[0061] Of course, it is not necessary to allow the core 28 to protrude outward through the first end face 22 with a contour 72 on the side of the first end face 22, since the raised outer contour 64 serves to transmit torque. However, the first contour 72, which corresponds to the associated recess 70 on the end face 22, supports the torque transmission and the secure fit of the core 28 when the tool 32 is attached on this side.
[0062] From the Fig. 7a) to 7c) it is further evident that the core 28 has four outwardly directed projections 80, with which the core 28 is held axially displaceably in the basically cylindrically shaped cavity 50, but secured against rotation.
[0063] Furthermore, the two adapter parts 46, 48 each have mutually associated form-locking elements 76 in the form of projections and form-locking counter-elements 78 in the form of recesses, which engage with each other when assembled with the respective other adapter part 46, 48 and thus secure the adapter parts 46, 48 in a form-locking manner against rotation relative to each other.
[0064] The two adapter parts 46, 48 are advantageously manufactured as sintered parts, for example, from steel, and can be joined together at the joining plane 44 after the core 28 has been inserted into the cavity 50. To ensure a permanent connection, the two adapter parts 46, 48 can be welded, soldered, glued, or pressed together. A press fit without additional tools is preferred.
[0065] In Fig. 8 shows a further embodiment of an adapter according to the invention and is designated overall by 10a.
[0066] The adapter 10a differs from the previously described adapter 10 in that, on the side of the second end face 26, instead of the ring portion 57, a total of twelve form-locking elements 82 are arranged at equal angular intervals from one another along a circular line 86, each of which is delimited by radially extending side surfaces 84, 85. Such a configuration enables a form-locking connection with tools on which corresponding recesses are provided, as is known from DE 10 2004 050 798 A1, which is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety.
[0067] It is understood that in this case the protruding contour 52 of the core 28 on this side is omitted, since otherwise the raised form-locking elements 85 could not interact with the associated recesses on the tool.
[0068] It is further understood that any other configurations of either the first or second contour 72, 52 on the core 28 or the raised outer contour 64 may be provided to allow connections with different tools.
[0069] Out of Fig. 1 shows that the drive shaft 12 has a central projection 19 in the form of a protrusion projecting into the tool holder 18. The diameter of this projection 19 is coded with the inner diameter of the two recesses 62 and 70 on the second end face 26 and 22, respectively. This means that attachment of the adapter 10 or 10a to the machine tool 90 is only possible if the diameter of the projection 19 on the mandrel of the drive shaft 12 is less than or equal to the inner diameter of the recess 62 or 70.
[0070] In this way, coding of specific tools with specific machine tools of specific performance classes can be achieved in a simple manner.
