Industrial truck with a diagnostic interface and procedures for maintaining such an industrial truck

Abstract

Industrial truck (10) with an electronic control unit (28) and a diagnostic interface (34) for connecting a diagnostic tool, wherein the electronic control unit (28) can be placed in different operating states, including: • a standard operating state for the regular operation of the industrial truck (10), • a simple diagnostic state in which a diagnostic tool connected to the diagnostic interface (34) can access the control unit (28) but cannot make any safety-related settings, thus also excluding any other manipulation of settings or data stored in the control unit, and • an extended diagnostic state in which safety-related settings can be made by a diagnostic tool connected to the diagnostic interface (34), wherein the control unit (28) is configured to provide a connected diagnostic tool with a start value.• to generate a key based on the start value using an algorithm stored in the control unit (28), • to activate one of the two diagnostic states only if, after transmission of the start value to a connected diagnostic tool, a key transmitted by the diagnostic tool to the control unit (28) matches the generated key, and • to use a different algorithm to activate the simple diagnostic state than to activate the extended diagnostic state.
