LAA-LTE COORDINATED VIA WIFI

Abstract

A method comprises detecting, using a WiFi access point, channel usage data indicating the data traffic on a multitude of channels of a license-free LTE band in a wireless network. The method further comprises providing the channel usage data to an LTE (Long Term Evolution) access point. The method further comprises selecting, using the LTE access point, a channel from the multitude of channels based on the channel usage data from the WiFi access point for use when transmitting data by the LTE access point. The method further comprises providing, from the LTE access point, an indication of an upcoming transmission configured to transmit data on the selected channel to the WiFi access point.The method further includes broadcasting one or more messages from the WiFi access point to one or more WiFi nodes, wherein the one or more messages are configured to prevent the WiFi nodes from transmitting on the channel.
