Abstract

Device for measuring a dimension between at least two points on at least one surface for a vehicle (1), comprising - at least one image generation device (4, 7, 10, 12) for scanning the vehicle environment, - a display device (8) for showing the image of the vehicle's surroundings, - an input device (9) for defining at least two points as measuring points (6) between which the dimensions are to be determined, as shown in the illustration, - at least one environmental sensor (7, 10, 12, 13) to detect the distance and direction of the measuring points (6) with respect to the vehicle (1) and - an evaluation device (3) for determining the dimension based on the recorded distances and directions of the measuring points (6) and for outputting the determined dimension, and designed in such a way that the curvature of at least one surface between the measuring points (6) is detected by recording the distance and direction of further points that lie on a line, possibly projected, from the image generating device (4, 7, 10, 12) and / or the environmental sensor (7, 10, 12, 13) onto the surface between the measuring points (6) and is taken into account when determining the dimension.
