Abstract

Restraint system for an occupant sitting or lying on a vehicle seat (1) of a motor vehicle, wherein a first force limiting device (13) is provided between a vehicle structure (3) of the motor vehicle and the vehicle seat (1), which enables force-limited longitudinal movement of the vehicle seat (1) relative to the vehicle structure (3), wherein a seat belt device (11) with a second force limiting device (14) enabling force-limited belt extension is provided, and the force limiting level of the first force limiting device (13) is lower than the force limiting level of the second force limiting device (14), wherein the activation of the first force limiting device (13) is limited by a stop (16) limiting the movement of the vehicle seat (1) relative to the vehicle structure (3).
