Abstract

Method for operating a power supply unit (1) on an electricity network (7), wherein - the power unit (1) comprises an internal combustion engine (3) and an electric machine (5) which is connected to the internal combustion engine (3) for propulsion purposes and to the power grid (7) for electrical purposes, wherein - in a first control energy state, when there is an oversupply of electrical energy in the power grid (7), the electrical machine (5) draws electrical power from the power grid (7) and is operated as a motor, whereby - the electric machine (5) pulls the internal combustion engine (3), whereby - in a second control energy state, when there is an oversupply of electrical energy in the power grid, an additional mechanical load is pulled by the electric machine (5) operated as a motor, characterized in that - the additional mechanical load is provided by a continuous brake (11) of the internal combustion engine (3).
