Abstract

Device (100) controlling a lateral movement of the vehicle (201) during a reverse movement, the device (100) comprising: at least one memory (103) containing computer-executable instructions; and at least one processor (101) configured to read and execute the computer-executable instructions, the computer-executable instructions causing the at least one processor (100) to: load a desired reverse path (202) of a vehicle (201), the reverse path (202) comprising waypoints (203) along which the vehicle (201) is to travel backward during a movement; mirror the waypoints (203) along a mirror axis (205) perpendicular to a longitudinal axis (206) extending from the front to the rear of the vehicle (201), such that the mirrored waypoints (203) define a virtual forward path (204);and controls a lateral movement of the vehicle (201) to follow the waypoints (203) along the virtual forward path (204) while the vehicle (201) is traveling in a reverse direction, wherein the lateral movement of the vehicle (201) is controlled by adjusting a road wheel angle in order to direct only the lateral movement of the vehicle (201) to the mirrored waypoints of the virtual forward path.;
