Abstract
Occupant restraint device (10) comprising: a three-point safety belt device (20) which restrains the hips (P) of a seated occupant (D) by means of a lap belt (22L) and restrains the upper body of the seated occupant (D) by means of a shoulder belt (22S);and a side airbag (34) which is housed within a seat backrest (16) in a folded state and is inflated and unfolded when supplied with gas, wherein the side airbag (34) comprises an upper chamber (34H) which is inflated and unfolded to contact a rear surface of an upper part of the shoulder belt (22S) and to reach a lateral side of the head (H) of the seated occupant (D), a lower chamber (34P) which is inflated and unfolded at a lateral side of the hips (P) of the seated occupant (D), and a connecting part (34D) which connects the upper chamber (34H) and the lower chamber (34P), wherein: the connecting part (34D) has a narrowed section (36) at which the connecting part (34D) is narrowed from a seat front to a seat back;and the lower chamber (34P) is folded by such a folding method that the lower chamber (34P) has a higher unfolding speed than the upper chamber (34H) when inflated and unfolded, wherein the upper chamber (34H) has an inwardly roll-folded part (34R) which is folded from the front of the seat to the back of the seat by roll folding, wherein the upper chamber (34H) is folded such that a surface facing a seated occupant (D) is rolled inwards; and the lower chamber (34P) has an accordion-folded part (34S) which is folded from the front of the seat to the back of the seat by accordion folding, wherein the lower chamber (34P) is folded back in alternating back-folding directions so that it is layered in a seat-front-back direction.
