AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing vehicles, particularly those without advanced sensors or communication capabilities, struggle to effectively share sensor information with other vehicles, limiting their ability to interact and avoid collisions or hazards.

Method used

A parked vehicle is equipped with an apparatus that uses human-perceptible signal sources like lights and sounds to convey sensor information to other vehicles, allowing drivers to intuitively understand the vehicle's surroundings and potential dangers without relying on their own sensors.

Benefits of technology

Enables vehicles without sensors to communicate critical information to other drivers, enhancing safety by preventing collisions and facilitating emergency responses, even in the absence of onboard sensors.

Abstract

Device (10) for a parked vehicle (100) and for signaling sensor information to another vehicle (200; 300), comprising at least one interface (12) configured for communication with sensors of the vehicle (100) and for controlling a human-perceivable signal source; and a control module (14) configured for: controlling the at least one interface (12), receiving (22) sensor information relating to the vehicle's (100's) surroundings, generating (24) a message for a driver of the other vehicle (200; 300) in the surroundings, and controlling (26) the human-perceivable signal source to transmit the message to the driver of the other vehicle (200;300), wherein the signal source perceptible to humans is a rear light, a brake light, a turn signal or a front headlight of the parked vehicle (100), wherein the control module (14) is configured to display distance information between the vehicle (100) and the other vehicle (200; 300) with the message, and to indicate the distance to the vehicle (100) to the approaching other vehicle (200; 300) by means of a change in the color of the light as a perceptible change in the signal characteristics of the perceptible signal source.
