Abstract
An LED driver (10) is provided. This LED driver (10) has at least two output terminals (11a, 11b) configured to supply an LED-based load with a DC voltage, at least one output capacitor (12) for the at least two output terminals (11a, 11b), at least one switching element (13) connected in series with at least one of the at least two output terminals (11a, 11b), and a control unit (14). The control unit (14) is configured to determine an output voltage with respect to the at least two output terminals (11a, 11b) and, if the output voltage exceeds a certain threshold, to charge the at least one output capacitor (12) to a certain voltage value before the control unit (14) switches the at least one switching element (13) to the conducting state.
