Abstract
Description
[0001] The present invention relates to a side limiter for an extruder and an extruder with an extruder head, in particular for producing mixed skins.
[0002] An extruder of this type is known, for example, from US Pat. No. 663,045. It has an extruder head with an opening from which a plastically deformable or viscous mass is continuously extruded under pressure. The extruder head has an upper and a lower section, between which a middle section and an output plate with a shaping opening are inserted. The upper and lower sections are screwed together. The extruder can be converted by unscrewing the upper section and replacing the middle section with another middle section and the plate with a plate with a different opening.
[0003] US 2018 / 0022007 A1 discloses a twin-screw extruder composed of several modular elements: an inlet section, into which the material to be mixed is fed, several intermediate sections, and an extruder head. Within the twin-screw extruder, the viscosity of the material to be mixed is monitored, and the twin-screw extruder is adjusted accordingly to ensure consistent product quality.
[0004] CN 1061290 C discloses a twin-screw extruder with an extruder head featuring an outlet flange on which two side guide plates and two horizontally arranged roller elements are arranged. To produce a product with a defined width, the screws securing the two side guide plates to the outlet flange are loosened, and the side guide plates are moved using hydraulic cylinders.
[0005] CN 112895370 A discloses a method for producing extruded plastic tiles with eaves integration, using an extruder to produce plastic sheets. The extruder has an extruder head with a nozzle head that is adjustable for producing plastic sheets of different widths and thicknesses.
[0006] CN 210969303 U discloses an extruder comprising an extruder body, in which a rotating shaft is arranged, and an extruder head, which is used, for example, for the production of bricks. The extruder head has a modular design and has screw connections into which spacer sleeves can be inserted to adjust the length of the extruder head.
[0007] In the Fig. Figure 1 shows a front view of an extruder head 1 of a twin-screw extruder. The extruder head has a left side limiter 2 and a right side limiter 4, each of which is designed as a single component. The two side limits 2 and 4 are preferably made of stainless steel and are screwed to the extruder head 1 by means of screws 6.
[0008] The twin-screw extruder is used, for example, to produce plastic products, so-called compound sheets, from a rubber compound in a mixing process. The rubber compound is pressed out of the twin-screw extruder by means of two counter-rotating screws 8 and 10, whereby the compound sheets are formed with a defined width and thickness using the two side stops 2 and 4 and two horizontally arranged rollers, in the Fig. 1 not shown, are output from the extruder head 1. A curvature 12 of the two side limits 2 and 4 is matched to a diameter of the horizontally arranged rollers, wherein a distance 14 between the two side limits 2 and 4 specifies the width of the mixture sheets and a distance between the two horizontally arranged rollers specifies the thickness of the mixture sheets.
[0009] Such a right side boundary 4' is in the Fig. 2 schematically shown in a side view. The side limiter 4' has four holes 16 through which the side limiter 4' can be screwed to the extruder head 1, as well as a left side surface 18, which has a curvature matched to a diameter of the right screw 10. The side limiter 4' further has an upper side surface 20 and a lower side surface 22, which are curved according to the diameter of the two horizontally arranged rollers and which taper to a pointed end 24.
[0010] The two side limits 2 and 4 or 4' are additionally pinned to the extruder head 1 and include a water cooling system for cooling the side limits 2 and 4 or 4' during operation of the twin-screw extruder.
[0011] Due to the fixed screw connection of the side stops 2 and 4 or 4', the twin-screw extruder is limited to a single sheet width. This limitation leads to limitations in production flexibility. Changing the two side stops 2 and 4 or 4' results in a longer production downtime for the twin-screw extruder and requires, in particular, a technical lifting device such as a crane, cable winch, or pulley block, etc., in a location that is difficult to access.
[0012] It is an object of the invention to provide a side limitation for an extruder, as well as an extruder with an extruder head for producing a product, the extruder head of which can be converted to a different width of the product without great technical effort.

Character description
[0028] The present description illustrates the principles of the inventive disclosure. It is thus understood that those skilled in the art will be able to devise various arrangements that, although not explicitly described herein, embody the principles of the inventive disclosure and are also intended to be protected within their scope.
[0029] In the Fig. 3 schematically shows a modular side limiter 50, here a right-hand modular side limiter 50, which in this embodiment comprises a stationary part 52 and a replacement part 54. The side limiter 50 is in particular a part of an extruder and can, for example, be attached to the Fig. 1 shown extruder head 1 and thereby the right side limit 4 or 4' of the Fig. 1 and the Fig. Replace 2.
[0030] In this embodiment, both the stationary part 52 and the replacement part 54 can be connected to the extruder head by means of screws. Here, the stationary part 52 has two holes 56 and the replacement part 54 has two holes 58 through which the two parts 52 and 54 can be screwed to the extruder head. The stationary part 52 and / or the replacement part 54 can advantageously also have pin connections through which the stationary part 52 and / or the replacement part 54 can be additionally secured to the extruder head.
[0031] The stationary part 52 has in particular a water cooling system in which Fig. 3, which is connected to a water cooling system for the extruder when the stationary part 52 is attached to the extruder head. The exchangeable part 54 does not have a water cooling system, but is cooled by the stationary part 52 when the extruder is in operation, since the exchangeable part 54 and the stationary part 52 have a large common contact area for good heat transfer.
[0032] The side limiter 50 is preferably a part of an extruder in which a rubber mixture can be processed to produce mixed skins, in particular a part of a twin-screw extruder. The twin-screw extruder further comprises a left-hand side limiter, not shown here, which can also be of modular construction, but alternatively can also be constructed in one piece, as shown in the Fig. 1. Both the stationary part 52 and the exchange part 54 have a tapered end 60 and 62, respectively, wherein a width 64 of the end 62 of the exchange part 54 together with a left side boundary of the twin-screw extruder determines a sheet width of a mixture sheet to be produced.
[0033] The replacement part 54 further comprises a left side surface 66 which has a curvature which is adapted to a diameter of a right screw of the twin-screw extruder.
[0034] In the Fig. 4 shows a side limit stop 70 for the twin-screw extruder, which includes the stationary part 52 and a replacement part 72. The replacement part 72 has a tapered end 74 whose width 76 is smaller than the width 64 of the replacement part 54. The replacement part 72 is particularly designed to replace the replacement part 54 and has corresponding holes 78 with which it can be screwed to the extruder head.
[0035] The replacement part 72 further comprises a left side surface 79 which has a curvature which is adapted to a diameter of the right screw of the twin-screw extruder.
[0036] As a result, with the twin-screw extruder, when using the side limitation 70, mixture skins can be produced whose skin width is greater than that of the mixture skins determined by the side limitation 50 by replacing the replacement part 54 with the replacement part 72.
[0037] For example, the replacement parts 54 and 72 are designed such that their mass is significantly lower than that of the stationary part 52. Their mass is preferably less than 30 kg, allowing the replacement parts 54 and 72 to be replaced by one or two people without the need for lifting equipment. Furthermore, since there are only a few screw connections, the conversion can be completed in a short time, thus minimizing extruder downtime when the extruder needs to be converted to a different fur width.
[0038] Instead of the replacement parts 54 and 72, other replacement parts can also be used for the extruder head. These can have ends of varying widths, allowing a variety of different compound skins to be produced with the extruder. However, in practice, only a few skin widths are usually required.
[0039] Another embodiment of a modular side limiter 80 for the twin-screw extruder is shown in the Fig. 5, a right-hand modular side limiter 80 is shown, which comprises a stationary part 82 and a replacement part 84. The stationary part 82 has four holes 86 through which the stationary part 82 can be screwed to the extruder head. The replacement part 84 has two holes 88; however, in this case, it is not screwed to the extruder head, but to the stationary part 82.
[0040] The replacement part 84 has, for example, an outer shape which corresponds to a portion of the Fig. 3 and also has a tapered end 90 having a width 92 corresponding to the width 64 of the replacement part 54. As a result, the twin-screw extruder with the side limiter 80 is capable of producing mixed skins with the same skin width as with the side limiter 50, but the replacement part 84 is much more compact and therefore significantly lighter than the replacement part 54 of the side limiter 50. This further simplifies converting the twin-screw extruder to a different skin width.
[0041] In the Fig. 6 shows a side limiter 100 for the twin-screw extruder, which comprises the stationary part 82 and a replacement part 102. The replacement part 102 has a tapered end 104, the width 106 of which is smaller than the width 92 of the end 90 of the replacement part 84. The replacement part 102 is also particularly designed here to replace the replacement part 84 and has two corresponding holes 108 through which the replacement part 102 can be screwed to the stationary part 82. This allows the extruder with the side limiter 100 to produce compound sheets whose sheet width is greater than that of the compound sheets determined by the side limiter 80.
[0042] The stationary part 82 of the side boundaries 80 and 100 is in the Fig. 7 without a replacement part. The stationary part 82 has two threaded holes 110 through which the replacement part 84 or, alternatively, the replacement part 102 can be screwed to the stationary part 82.
[0043] The stationary part 82 also has a water cooling system, which is connected to the water cooling system of the twin-screw extruder when the stationary part 82 is attached to the extruder head, and has two large contact surfaces 112 and 114 against which the replacement part 84, or the replacement part 102, rests when the latter is screwed to the stationary part 82. The contact surfaces 112 and 114 ensure good heat transfer, so that no water cooling is required for the replacement parts 84 and 102 when the twin-screw extruder is in operation.
[0044] In the Fig. In a further embodiment, Figure 8 shows a stationary part 120 of a right side limit for the twin-screw extruder, which here corresponds to the stationary part 82 of the Fig. 7, but does not have screw connections for attaching replacement parts, but rather a dovetail guide 122. The stationary part 120 has four holes 126, like the stationary part 82, through which it can be connected to the extruder head.
[0045] Replacement parts that are to be connected to the stationary part 120 also have a corresponding dovetail guide for secure attachment to the stationary part 120. The stationary part 120 also has a hole 124 for a pin connection for a precise coupling with the replacement parts to be used. This allows for a replacement part attached to the stationary part 120 to be positioned more precisely.
[0046] In particular, the replacement parts to be connected to the stationary part 120 are significantly lighter than the stationary part 120, so that the extruder can be converted to a different fur width in a short time without any special effort.
[0047] The extruder and the Fig. The side stops described in Figures 3 to 8 are preferably designed for the production of plastic products, in particular mixed skins. In a preferred embodiment, the extruder is a twin-screw extruder, and the side stops correspond in particular to the material guide jaws of the twin-screw extruder.
[0048] In further embodiments, however, the extruder can also be used to process other materials, such as paper or wood.
[0049] All examples and conditional formulations mentioned herein are to be understood without limitation to such specifically cited embodiments. The disclosure is not limited to the embodiments described here. There is room for various adaptations and modifications that a person skilled in the art would consider based on their specialist knowledge and in accordance with the disclosure.
