Abstract

The invention relates to a printing system (1) for forming a strand (S) of building material (B) for 3D printing a building component (W), wherein the printing system (1) comprises: a print head (2), a fine positioning device (33), and a coarse movement device (4), wherein the print head (2) is configured for dispensing building material (B) and for shaping building material (B) to form the strand (S), wherein the fine positioning device (33) is configured for finely positioning the print head (2) relative to the coarse movement device (4), wherein the coarse movement device (4) is configured for coarsely moving the fine positioning device (33), wherein the print head (2) has a discharge opening (5) for dispensing the strand (S) in a substantially horizontal discharge direction (A), and wherein the printing system (1) has a pressure operating mode (BA).wherein in the pressure operating mode (BA) the discharge opening (5) is arranged in the discharge direction (A) relative to an outer contour (6) of the fine positioning device (33) such that a strand start (AS) of the strand (S) discharged through the discharge opening (5) can be directly attached to an existing structure section (WA) projecting above the print head (2).
