Abstract

The invention relates to a method for heating a battery (2), wherein a power converter (3), which in normal operation is used to convert a direct current provided by the battery (2) into phase currents for an electric machine (10), is controlled in such a way that heat (6) is generated in the power converter (3) by active discharge, wherein the generated heat (6) is transported from the power converter (3) to the battery (2) by means of a cooling circuit (4).Furthermore, the invention relates to a battery arrangement (1) comprising a battery (2), a power converter (3), wherein the power converter (3) is used in normal operation to convert a direct current provided by the battery (2) into phase currents for an electric machine (10), a cooling circuit (4), and a control device (5), wherein the control device (5) is configured to control the power converter (3) during a heating operation in such a way that heat (6) is generated in the power converter (3) by active discharge, wherein the cooling circuit (4) is configured and arranged to transport the heat (6) generated in the power converter (3) to the battery (2).
