Abstract

The invention relates to a front axle of a motor vehicle, comprising two wheel suspensions, each with a control arm, and a subframe. The control arms are each configured as tension struts and include a tension strut, at least one transverse arm, and at least one steering bearing with a bearing axis. The subframe has longitudinal members in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle and at least one transverse member in the transverse direction. The longitudinal members are rigidly connected to the at least one transverse member in a connection area. The transverse arms are each mounted between a wheel suspension and a longitudinal member. The invention is characterized in that the transverse member has a central base section extending perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle and, at each end of the base section, a cantilever section extending obliquely forward with respect to the longitudinal direction of the vehicle.The control arms are each pivotally mounted to the crossbeam's boom section by means of steering bearings. The free end of the boom section extends laterally within the area of ​​minimal lateral overlap of the vehicle and is formed by a barrier.
