Motor vehicle with traction battery, protective structure and distance measuring device

Abstract

A motor vehicle comprises a body with a floor assembly in which a traction battery 4 is housed. A protective structure 8, serving as underride protection and forming an underside of the body, is arranged below the traction battery 4. Furthermore, a measuring device is provided for the preferably continuous determination of at least one distance either between the traction battery 4 and the protective structure 8, or between an intermediate element 10 arranged between the traction battery 4 and the protective structure 8, on the one hand, and the traction battery 4 or the protective structure 8, on the other. Using such a measuring device, a deformation of the protective structure 8 can be detected, and from such a deformation, a conclusion can be drawn about possible damage to the traction battery 4, which is actually intended to be protected by the protective structure 8.
