Abstract

The invention relates to a method for operating varifocal eyeglasses 100 with at least one varifocal lens 102 for compensating a user's refractive error, and with an adjustment device 104 for adjusting the refractive power of the varifocal lens 102, wherein the method comprises a step of iteratively determining a desired divergence angle of a laser beam for illuminating one of the user's eyes, at which the signal strength of a reflection beam representing a reflection of the laser beam at the eye is at its maximum, a step of determining the focal length of an eye lens of the eye using the desired divergence angle, and a step of adjusting the refractive power of the varifocal lens 102 using the determined focal length.
