Abstract

The invention relates to an amplifier (1) for a laser signal comprising a multi-reflection cell (2), an optical combiner (3), and an optical pump source (4), wherein the optical pump source (4) is configured to emit a pump beam and is optically connected to the optical combiner (3) for transmitting the pump beam, the optical combiner (3) is configured to superimpose the laser signal in the form of a signal beam with the pump beam and is optically connected to the multi-reflection cell (2) for transmission, wherein a non-linear amplifier medium (5) is arranged in the multi-reflection cell (2), and the multi-reflection cell (2) is configured to guide the signal beam superimposed with the pump beam through the amplifier medium (5) with a plurality of reflections, so that power from the pump beam is transferred to the signal beam.In this way a compact and simple amplifier (1) is provided which enables a long interaction trajectory for a laser signal, resulting in both high power gain and spectral broadening.
