Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a motor vehicle with a variable input-display unit arranged on the outside of the instrument panel and sensors that can detect the state of the driver's door and the driver's seat. State of the art In the field of automotive engineering, it is well known that control locations in vehicles are typically chosen so that they can be easily and ergonomically reached by the driver while seated. For example, functions that are typically relevant while driving are operated via a Center Information Display (CID), i.e., a touchscreen, located in the center console. Other functions are more relevant at the beginning or end of a journey, or when the driver leaves the vehicle. In Porsches, the instrument cluster is now a display. However, the symbols in the outer sections, the so-called "combi ears," are fixed symbols whose color can be changed, but which are not part of the instrument cluster display itself. From the user's perspective, this looks like a large display, even though it is not technically one.It was also considered that the symbols in the "combi-ears" could be part of the combined display or represent independent small displays. Disclosure of the invention One problem is that there are functions that are relevant just before and just after exiting the vehicle, but whose operation is always optimized for the seated driver. For example, it might be desirable to activate the stationary climate control or the alarm system when exiting the vehicle, or to open the charging port of an electric vehicle after leaving the vehicle. However, these functions would normally have to be operated via the CID while seated, which can be inconvenient if one is already about to exit or has already exited the vehicle. The problem described is solved according to claim 1. The solution provides a vehicle with a variable input / display unit located in the outer area of the instrument panel, for example, in the area of the instrument cluster's "ears." Sensors detect whether the driver's door is open or closed and whether the driver's seat is occupied. When the driver opens the door and leaves the vehicle, i.e., when the driver's seat is no longer occupied, context-relevant functions are displayed in the area of the variable input / display unit facing the driver's door. The driver can then conveniently view and operate these functions while standing. This approach offers the advantage that the driver can ergonomically operate the functions relevant for exiting the vehicle without having to get back inside. This makes operation more comfortable and intuitive. Further advantageous embodiments of the invention are specified in the dependent patent claims. Brief description of the drawings Fig. 1 shows a front view of an instrument cluster with variable input / display units in the outer sections, also known as "combi ears". Fig. 2 shows a front view of a vehicle interior with a steering wheel, an instrument cluster, and a center information display (10) in the center console. Fig. 3 shows a perspective view of a vehicle with the driver's door open and the driver standing in front of it. Fig. 4 shows the instrument cluster from Fig. 1 with the symbols activated on the variable input / display units (11) in the "combi ears", while the driver's door is open and the driver has exited the vehicle. Embodiments of the invention One embodiment will now be explained with reference to the drawings. The vehicle shown in the figures has a variable input / display unit (11) designed as a touchscreen. This is located in the area of the "combination ears," i.e., in the outer sections of the instrument panel. The variable input / display unit (11) can display different symbols and functions depending on the vehicle's state. Sensors detect whether the driver's door is open or closed and whether the driver's seat is occupied. If the driver's seat is unoccupied and the driver's door is opened, as shown in Figures 3 and 4, a control unit activates the display of context-relevant functions on the variable input / display unit (11). These functions are relevant for exiting the vehicle and can be conveniently operated by the driver while standing.Examples of such functions include stationary climate control, opening the charging port on an electric vehicle, activating the parking lights or alarm system, or controlling windows or the sunroof. Which specific functions are displayed can depend on various conditions, such as climatic conditions, detected occupants in the vehicle, the battery charge level, or the vehicle's location. For example, the stationary climate control function might only be displayed at particularly high or low outside temperatures, the charging port opening function only when the battery charge is low or near a charging station, and the alarm system activation only when the vehicle is outside its home garage. In addition to the variable input / display unit (11), the vehicle has a conventional center information display (10 - Fig. 2) which allows further functions to be operated while driving.
