Abstract

In a tunnel boring machine with a rotating cutterhead, a cutterhead drive (203) is provided, which drives the cutterhead via at least one hydraulic motor (209) to rotate it. Parallel to the hydraulic motor (209), through which a drive fluid flows at a certain pressure, a bypass branch (215) is provided, through which a portion of the drive fluid can be fed to a pressure booster (236) for controlling a control cylinder (121) to align the cutterhead. This allows the control cylinder (121) to be actuated via a relatively short high-pressure line (239).
