Isolation module and surge protection assembly

Abstract

The invention relates to a disconnect module (14) for disconnecting a surge protection module (12) from a network in the event of a fault or overload of the surge protection module (12). The disconnect module (14) comprises a terminal (18) via which the disconnect module (14) can be connected in series with the surge protection module (12), and two contacts (26, 28) between which current can flow, at least in the event of an overvoltage. A disconnect section (24) is formed between the contacts (26, 28). The disconnect module (14) has a movable disconnect element (32) which is held in a home position, and a pre-tensioned spring (34) which biases the disconnect element (32) into a disconnect position. The disconnect element (32) is configured to effect a disconnect in the disconnect section (24) in the disconnect position, so that current flow between the contacts (26, 28) is prevented.
