Abstract

The invention relates to a drive unit for a vehicle (1) that can be propelled at least partially by muscle power, comprising a first electric machine (2) which is effectively connected to a pedal crank shaft (4) via a first gear stage (3) which is essentially self-locking, wherein the first gear stage (3) is further effectively connected to the pedal crank shaft (4) via a second gear stage (5) which is not self-locking, wherein the first electric machine (2) is configured to apply a rotational resistance to the pedal crank shaft (4) during a rotational movement in a first direction of rotation of the pedal crank shaft (4) and to be driven via the pedal crank shaft (4) during a rotational movement in a second direction of rotation of the pedal crank shaft (4) in order to generate electrical energy for the operation of a second electric machine (7) which is configured toto be effectively connected to a drive wheel (8) of the vehicle (1). Furthermore, the invention relates to a vehicle (1) that can be propelled at least partially by muscle power, comprising at least two wheels and such a drive unit.
