Abstract

An electric motor (1) has a stator (100) and a rotor (200) rotatably mounted relative to the stator (100) about an axis of rotation (2), the stator (100) having several stator teeth (110) and several stator slots (120) formed between each pair of stator teeth (110) for receiving a stator winding (130). The stator slots (120) are open towards the rotor (200), the stator teeth (110) each having a stator pole shoe (112) at their end (111) facing the rotor (200). A stator pole shoe spacing (d1) is defined by the shortest distance between two adjacent stator pole shoes (112). The rotor (200) has several rotor teeth (210) and several rotor slots (220) formed between two rotor teeth (210) for receiving permanent magnets (230), the rotor slots (220) being open in the direction of the stator (100).The rotor teeth (210) each have a rotor pole shoe (211) at their end (211) facing the stator (100), wherein a rotor pole shoe spacing (d2) is defined by the shortest distance between two adjacent rotor pole shoes (211). The ratio of stator pole shoe spacing (d1) to rotor pole shoe spacing (d2) is at least 2.1 and at most 2.5.
