Abstract

The invention relates, inter alia, to a device (10) for capturing the beginning of a label roll (E). The device (10) has a receiving chamber (12) with an access opening (14) for receiving the beginning of the label roll. The device (10) further has a suction device (18) which is connected to the receiving chamber (12) for drawing the beginning of the label roll into the receiving chamber (12) through the access opening (14). The device (10) further has a sensor (26) which is arranged to detect the beginning of the label roll that has been drawn into the receiving chamber (12).
