Abstract

A sensor device (1) for generating an output value (100) for controlling the brightness of a head-up display (HUD) (31) of a vehicle (32) is disclosed, wherein the sensor device (1) comprises an evaluation unit (2), a first light sensor (11) for generating a first sensor value (101) and a second light sensor (12) for generating a second sensor value (102), and the first sensor value (101) represents the brightness of a first luminous flux (201) coming from a first direction (111) and the second sensor value (102) represents the brightness of a second luminous flux (202) coming from a second direction (112) that differs from the first direction (111), and the evaluation unit (2) is configured to determine and output the output value (100) based on the first sensor value (101) and the second sensor value (102).
