Abstract

Household appliance (1) comprising a housing (2), a treatment chamber (3) with a loading opening (4), and a closing device (5) for closing the loading opening (4), wherein the closing device (5) is pivotably mounted on the housing (2) by means of a hinge (6), and wherein the hinge (6) is mounted in two receptacles in the housing. The hinge (6) is pre-loaded into an open position by means of a pre-tensioned preloading device (9).The hinge assembly (6) is attached to the housing assembly (2) by a clamping element (23), wherein the clamping element (23) comprises a first contoured section (24) for receiving in a correspondingly contoured insertion section (25) in at least one receiving socket (15) of the hinge assembly (6), and wherein the clamping element (23) comprises a second contoured section (26) for receiving in a correspondingly contoured receptacle (27) in the housing assembly (2), wherein the first contoured section (24) and the second contoured section (26) have a different number of contours. In the method for adjusting the force of the preloading device (9) of a hinge assembly (6) in such a household appliance (1), the preloading device (9) is inserted into the receptacles (21, 27) of the housing assembly (2) with a defined force.Then the clamping element (23) is pulled out of the insertion section (25) and the contoured receptacle (27), and depending on the desired change in the force of the preloading device (9) is rotated in the corresponding direction by one or more contours of the second contoured section (26) and brought back into engagement with the insertion section (25) and the contoured receptacles (27), whereby the angular position of the hinge device (6) changes by a different angle than the clamping element (23) was rotated.
