Abstract

A die-casting system comprises a mold with a casting chamber, a gate connected to the casting chamber by fluid, and a pressurization device. Molten metal is introduced from the gate into the casting chamber along a flow direction. The gate has a first surface that is movable in a direction perpendicular to the flow direction of the molten metal. The pressurization device is configured to pre-stress the first surface, causing the gate to have a first cross-sectional area in a plane perpendicular to the flow direction based on a first pressure of the molten metal in the gate, and a second cross-sectional area in the same plane perpendicular to the flow direction based on a second pressure of the molten metal in the gate. The second pressure is higher than the first pressure.
