Surge protection for the electrical system of a submarine

Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for protecting an onboard electrical system 40 in a submarine 10 from overvoltage, wherein the submarine 10 has an energy storage device, wherein the energy storage device has a battery management system, wherein the battery management system regulates a state-of-charge-dependent charging current of the energy storage device, characterized in that the battery management system has an overvoltage protocol, wherein the overvoltage protocol comprises the following steps: a) detection of an overvoltage in the onboard electrical system 40, b) temporary increase of the state-of-charge-dependent charging current of the energy storage device to an overvoltage charging current.
