Abstract

The present invention relates to a device and a method for determining a geographical direction based on the Earth's rotation. The device comprises a plurality of measuring units with a plurality of measuring axes, each assigned to one of the plurality of measuring units, wherein the plurality of measuring units are each configured to detect a component of the Earth's rotation in the direction of the respective measuring axis, and wherein the plurality of measuring axes are each arranged in or parallel to a base plane, are oriented differently over an angular range, and have at least two measuring axes, wherein at least two of the plurality of measuring axes intersect at an acute or obtuse angle, or intersect at an acute or obtuse angle when projected onto the base plane.
