Abstract

A body irradiation device for applying actinic radiation to a living being, in particular a human being, comprises: at least one irradiation module, wherein the at least one irradiation module comprises first LED radiation sources configured to emit UV-A radiation and second LED radiation sources configured to emit UV-B radiation; and a ballast for independently controlling the first LED radiation sources and the second LED radiation sources, in particular via their respective circuits, such that a first irradiation profile, defining a first temporal profile of a first, in particular erythema-effective, irradiance of UV-A radiation, and a second irradiation profile, defining a second temporal profile of a second, in particular erythema-effective, irradiance of UV-B radiation, are emitted, wherein the ballast is configuredto determine the first and second irradiances individually depending on the first and second time courses, or to determine the first and second time courses individually depending on the first and second irradiances, in such a way that a maximum erythema-effective irradiance and / or a maximum erythema-effective irradiation dose are not exceeded.
