Abstract

The invention relates to a method (100) for detecting a thermal fault in a battery cell (11), comprising steps of triggering the thermal fault in the battery cell (11) such that the battery cell (11) releases a degassing flow (22) via a degassing opening (21); and of generating a relative movement (R) between the degassing opening (21) of the battery cell (11) and a detection medium (14) in order to detect a damage pattern (24) by means of the detection medium (14). The invention also relates to a device (10) for detecting a thermal fault in a battery cell (11).
