Abstract
A vehicle battery comprises an energy storage element. A first terminal plate physically contacts the energy storage element and is electrically connected to it via a first inward-facing surface. A second terminal plate physically contacts the energy storage element and is electrically connected to it via a second inward-facing surface. The first terminal plate includes at least one groove extending into the first terminal plate from a first outward-facing surface. The first outward-facing surface is opposite the first inward-facing surface. A skin effect of the first terminal plate on its outer surface extends from a circumference of the first terminal plate and from each edge of the at least one groove when an alternating current flows through the first terminal plate.
