Abstract
The present invention relates to a switching device (12) comprising a hybrid switch arrangement (1) with a first switch (1a) and a second switch (1b), and a gate driver (4), wherein the first switch (1a) and the second switch (1b) are connected in parallel to the switch arrangement (1) to switch a DC link (3), wherein the gate driver (4) is configured to switch the first switch (1a) and the second switch (1b) on and off to switch the DC link (3), to set a first delay time for the first switch (1a) and a second delay time different from the first delay time for the second switch (1b), to detect an electrical voltage drop across the switch arrangement (1), and to detect a short circuit (7) in the DC link (3) if a predefined limit value is exceeded after the first delay time or the second delay time.and, in the event of a detected short circuit (7), to switch off the first switch (1a) and the second switch (1b).
