Abstract

The invention relates to a V8 engine (10) for a motor vehicle, wherein the V8 engine has eight cylinders (1-8) arranged in two cylinder banks (14, 16) of four cylinders each (1-4, 5-8) such that a first cylinder bank (14, 16) has a first cylinder (1-8), a second cylinder (1-8), a third cylinder (1-8), and a fourth cylinder (1-8). A second cylinder bank (14, 16) has a fifth cylinder (1-8), a sixth cylinder (1-8), a seventh cylinder (1-8), and an eighth cylinder (1-8).The cylinder banks (14, 16) are arranged side by side with respect to a longitudinal direction (18) of the V8 engine (10) and from a front (VS) of the V8 engine (10) towards an output side (AS) of the V8 engine (10) opposite the front (VS) in the longitudinal direction (18) of the V8 engine (10) along a straight line (22) perpendicular to the viewing direction (20).
