Abstract

Component (1) comprising a base body (10) having a cast material, in particular cast iron or cast steel, with at least one wear-protection zone (20) comprising a plurality of hard metal grains (40), wherein the hard metal grains (40) are cast into the base material of the base body (10). Good wear protection at low manufacturing costs is achieved by the fact that the wear-protection zone (20) is raised above a surface (11, 23) of the base body (10). The invention also relates to a method for manufacturing such a component. In this arrangement, a casting mold (50) forms a cavity (52), wherein the cavity (52) has at least one depression zone (54), and wherein the depression zone (54) is equipped with a plurality of hard metal grains (40) before a liquid casting material, in particular cast iron or cast steel, is poured into the cavity (52).
