Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for blindness detection of an ultrasonic sensor system with at least a first ultrasonic sensor array and a second ultrasonic sensor array, comprising the steps of emitting an ultrasonic wave by means of the first ultrasonic sensor array in the direction of a floor surface, receiving the ultrasonic wave reflected from the floor surface at the first ultrasonic sensor array and evaluating the ultrasonic wave to produce a first ultrasonic signal, receiving and evaluating the ultrasonic wave reflected from the floor surface at the second ultrasonic sensor array and evaluating the ultrasonic wave to produce a second ultrasonic signal by actively aligning a detection area in the direction of the first ultrasonic sensor array, and comparing the first ultrasonic signal with the second ultrasonic signal, wherein blindness of the ultrasonic sensor system is detected.when the first ultrasound signal deviates from the second ultrasound signal by a defined threshold.
