Abstract

Punching tool (1) for punching a non-circular opening (6) in a workpiece (2), comprising a punching element (10) having a radially slotted punching head (14) and a spreading element (11) mounted on the punching element (10), wherein the punching head (14) can be moved from an initial state (Z1) to a punching state (Z2) by means of displacing the spreading element (11) relative to the punching element (10), and wherein the punching head (14) is spread radially further in the punching state (Z2) by means of the spreading element (11) than in the initial state (Z1).
