Abstract
The invention relates to a method for producing an intraocular lens (10), comprising the steps of: a) producing a mixture comprising a radical initiator and a precursor P; b) decomposing the radical initiator, thereby forming a radical R' and reacting the radial R' with the precursor P, thereby forming a nitroxide N; c) adding an amount n1 of a monomer A to the mixture and reacting the monomer A in a radical chain growth reaction at a temperature T1 of the mixture; d) lowering the temperature of the mixture to a temperature T2 that is lower than T1, whereby the mixture forms a prepolymer comprising a dormant species S and in which the amount of unreacted monomer A is n2, wherein n2 / n1 is at least 0.05; f1) Placing the prepolymer into a mold (1) which has the shape of the intraocular lens (10) and curing the prepolymer in the mold (1) thereby forming the intraocular lens (10);or f2) introducing the prepolymer into a container (14) and irradiating the prepolymer with a set of images formed by the electromagnetic radiation (9) and each showing the intraocular lens (10), wherein each of the images of the set is irradiated into the prepolymer at a different angle of incidence (ΔH) with respect to a reference plane (17) passing through the prepolymer, thereby curing the prepolymer and forming the intraocular lens (10).
