Twisted cable layout for steer-by-wire column

Abstract

A steer-by-wire vehicle system includes a steering column shroud. The steer-by-wire system also includes a handwheel actuator functionally coupled to one end of the steering column shroud, the handwheel actuator comprising a motor and a spindle, the spindle being functionally coupleable to a steering wheel hub. The steer-by-wire system further includes a rotatable wiring harness assembly. The wiring harness assembly includes a guide tube, at least one section of which is located in an internal cavity defined by the spindle. The wiring harness assembly also includes an electrical connecting cable, at least one section of which is located inside the guide tube.
