Abstract

A device according to the invention for lifting and setting down pallets, in particular for stacks of paper or cardboard sheets, wherein the device (1) comprises a lifting device (3) and a roller table (20), wherein the roller table (20) is arranged on a base (31) and conveys the pallets (2) in a conveying direction (22), and wherein the lifting device (3) lifts a single pallet (2) at a lifting position (4) laterally of the roller table (20) and sets it down at a lowering position (5) on the roller table (20) that differs from the lifting position (4), is characterized in that the device (1) comprises a pit (30) in the base (31), which has a first section (32) below the lifting position (4) and an adjacent second section (33) below the lowering position (5), wherein the lifting device (3) is horizontally movable back and forth in the pit (30) between the first and the second section (32, 33).The invention advantageously enables the flexible handling of various types of pallets loaded with stacks of sheets, with short unloading cycles. The invention is used, for example, in printing plants.
