Abstract

Battery housing systems and methods for cooling batteries are provided. One method for cooling a battery involves arranging a metallic cold plate in a mold, the metallic cold plate including an inner channel; filling the mold with resin and cooling to form an overmolded battery shell, the overmolded battery shell including an outer part surrounding the metallic cold plate; the overmolded battery shell having a bottom surface formed by the outer part and a top surface formed by the metallic cold plate; connecting the inner channel to a coolant supply; arranging the battery on the metallic cold plate; and attaching a cover to the overmolded battery shell to enclose an inner volume, the battery being located in the inner volume.
