Abstract

The invention relates to a method for operating a vehicle (1), wherein the vehicle (1) detects its environment by means of an environmental sensor, a computing unit processes sensor data generated by the environmental sensor for the detection of spray (2), wherein spray properties are determined and compared with reference values, wherein the computing unit generates a situation assessment depending on a relation of the determined spray properties with the reference values ​​and initiates the execution of a reaction defined for the respective manifestation of the situation assessment.The method according to the invention is characterized in that the computing unit determines, for individual detected spray clouds, an attenuation degree, representing the extent to which the electromagnetic radiation emitted by the environmental sensors and / or detected from the environment is attenuated by the respective spray clouds, and an atomization degree, representing a relationship between the geometric dimensions of the respective spray cloud and the particle size of the water particles contained in the spray cloud; and the computing unit determines the form of the situation assessment depending on the form of the attenuation degree and atomization degree of at least one spray cloud.
