Waste collection vehicle and procedures for driving a waste collection vehicle

Abstract

The invention relates to a waste collection vehicle (1) with a running board (7, 8) that can be moved into a non-accessible and an accessible position, and a sensor for detecting the position of the running board (7, 8), as well as a control unit configured to issue a warning signal when reverse gear is engaged and the running board (7, 8) is in the accessible position, and devices for issuing the warning signal. The invention further relates to a method for controlling a waste collection vehicle (1) comprising the following steps: • Detecting the driver's intention to reverse, • Checking whether the running board (7, 8) is in a non-accessible or accessible position, • Blocking reverse travel when the running board (7, 8) is in an accessible position, • Issues a warning signal indicating that the running board (7, 8) is in the accessible position.The invention improves the working comfort of the driver and operating personnel and makes collection trips more efficient.
