Abstract

The invention relates to a support structure for bracing the carrier of an instrument panel carrier 1 on the chassis of a vehicle, in particular on the floor of the passenger compartment. This support structure 3 comprises two spaced-apart supports 4, 4.1, wherein the supports 4, 4.1 can be connected at one end to the carrier 2 of the instrument panel carrier 1 and can be fixed at the opposite end to the chassis of a vehicle, and has at least one cross member 5, 6, 7 connecting the supports 4, 4.1. A particular feature is that the support structure 3 is designed as a hybrid structure, in which at least one of the two supports 4, 4.1 is a metal component and the at least one cross member 5, 6, 7 is a plastic component, wherein, for connection with the supports 4, 4.1, this cross member is integrally formed with each of the two supports 4, 4.1 during its shaping by a primary forming process.The invention further relates to an instrument panel carrier with a carrier 2 and such a support structure 3.
