Abstract

A switchable bridge (1) for a valve train of a heavy-duty internal combustion engine is proposed. The bridge (1) consists of a crossbeam-like base body (2) which has a valve contact surface (4) at each longitudinal end (3). The core component is a pressure piston (6) which is arranged in a bore (7) of the base body (2) and has a coupling groove (9) on its outer surface (8). In front of the pressure piston (6) are two diametrically opposed coupling slides (12) within a bore (11) of the base body (2), which are pressed radially inwards by means of compression springs (13). A hydraulic lash compensating element (14) in the pressure piston (6) provides a contact surface (17) for a rocker arm contact foot on the upper surface (16) of the base body (2).Pressure oil is directed via a transfer (20) in the head area (15) of the clearance compensating element (14) to two paths, the first path (18) leading to a reservoir of the clearance compensating element (14) and the second path (19) leading to a pressure chamber (23) in front of inner faces (24) of the coupling slides (12).
