Abstract

The invention relates to a method (1000) for charging an energy storage device (10) for a motor vehicle, comprising at least one first bank (12) comprising at least one rechargeable battery, and a second bank (14) comprising at least one rechargeable battery, comprising: measuring the charge states of the first bank (12) and the second bank (14), selectively controlling a current path through the first bank (12) and / or the second bank (12) based on the measured charge states, and charging the first bank (12) and / or the second bank (14) provided that the respective bank (12, 14) has not yet reached its individual maximum charge. The invention further relates to an energy storage device (10) and a motor vehicle. The invention enables battery-electric motor vehicles to actually utilize their maximum possible range.
