Abstract

The invention relates to a method for retrofitting an aircraft with a kerosene-based engine, comprising the following steps: - providing the aircraft in an initial configuration with a kerosene-based engine; - replacing or extending the aircraft's kerosene-based engine so that it has a modified engine capable of running on both kerosene and an alternative fuel; - adding external tanks, particularly modular and removable ones, outside and spaced apart from the aircraft fuselage, wherein the alternative fuel is stored exclusively in the external tanks. The invention also relates to an operating method for a retrofitted aircraft and a corresponding aircraft.
