Method and device for assisting a driver in the lateral guidance of a vehicle

Abstract

A device for assisting the driver of a vehicle in lateral control is described. The device is configured to detect an intervention situation in which the driver applies a manual steering torque to the vehicle's steering control in the direction of a risk to the vehicle. Furthermore, the device is configured to automatically apply a steering torque to the steering control in the opposite direction to the risk in response to the detected intervention situation, the value of which depends on the value of the manual steering torque.
