Abstract
Description
[0001] The present application claims priority over the preliminary US patent application No. 63 / 727,419, filed on December 3, 2024, entitled “Tire sealant container for a tire repair kit”, which is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety. STATE OF THE ART
[0002] Conventional devices for extracting tire sealant from sealant containers, especially pressurized containers, are known and available on the market in various forms and designs. These are usually used in combination with a compressor as a tire repair kit in vehicles, instead of an integrated spare tire.
[0003] The tire sealant container typically needs to be connected to the compressor and set up in a complex manner to ensure that the sealant is extracted. For this purpose, tire sealant containers are known that must be positioned upright or upside down and connected to a pressure source in order to pump sealant from the container into a vehicle tire in the event of a puncture.
[0004] A disadvantage of conventional devices is that connecting the compressor to the tire sealant reservoir is a complex process involving valves, diverter valves, mechanical devices, and other components. This is necessary to pressurize the reservoir and pump sealant into a punctured tire. Furthermore, conventional tire sealant reservoirs are expensive to install, complicated to operate, and far too heavy and costly to manufacture.
[0005] Conventional systems, and especially tire sealant containers, have the particular disadvantage of being relatively large, complex in design, relatively expensive to manufacture, and taking up a lot of space in a vehicle's installation area, for example in the trunk. SUMMARY

[0011] The present disclosure relates generally to tire repair kits and, in particular, to devices for dispensing tire sealant from a tire sealant container. In particular, the disclosure relates to a novel tire sealant container for a tire repair kit.
[0012] The present disclosure addresses, among other things, the problem of specifying a tire sealant container that eliminates the aforementioned disadvantages and can be used to extract tire sealant into a damaged tire in a simple and cost-effective manner when needed. The tire sealant container allows for a weight reduction of the entire tire repair kit, while also lowering manufacturing costs.
[0013] According to a first aspect, the problem underlying the disclosure is solved by a tire sealant container according to independent claim 1.
[0014] Alternatively or additionally, the problem underlying the disclosure is solved by a tire sealant container according to parallel claim 2 or according to parallel claim 3.
[0015] According to another aspect of the disclosure, the problem underlying the disclosure is solved by a tire sealant container according to parallel claim 15.
[0016] Advantageous further developments of the tire sealant container according to the disclosure are specified in the dependent claims.
[0017] Accordingly, the disclosure relates in particular to a tire sealant container for a tire repair kit, wherein the tire sealant container has a hollow body which is at least partially or in certain areas particularly cylindrical and preferably circular cylindrical, with a bottom-side lower container section, a lid-side upper container section and a jacket part which connects the lower container section to the upper container section.
[0018] According to a first aspect, it is provided in particular according to the present disclosure that the lid-side upper container section is flanged with an upper flange edge on a lid-side edge area of the shell part, in particular with an intermediate clamping of a circumferential seal.
[0019] Alternatively or additionally, it is provided that the bottom-side lower container section is flanged to a bottom-side edge area of the shell part with a lower flange edge, preferably with the intermediate clamping of a circumferential seal.
[0020] In other words, according to aspects of the present disclosure, a tire sealant container is provided which can be manufactured in a particularly simple and therefore cost-effective manner. As with a conventional beverage can, the casing of the tire sealant container can be made of sheet metal, with the upper container section on the lid side and / or the lower container section on the bottom side each being connected to the casing via an upper and lower flange edge.
[0021] According to a further alternative or additional aspect, the lid-side upper container section can have a dome-shaped area which connects to the upper flange edge on the inside via a circumferential, upwardly open groove and is in particular convexly curved upwards beyond an upper edge of the upper flange edge, with an axially central and at least partially or partially upwardly projecting adapter which has a connection for a connecting line, in particular a connecting hose.
[0022] The adapter, which has a connection for a connecting cable, is designed in particular as a plastic part, preferably as an injection-molded plastic part.
[0023] According to implementations of the adapter having a connection for a connecting line, it is provided that the adapter has a lower area which tapers at least partially or in sections towards the bottom-side lower container section and, in particular, is considered in cross-section of the adapter to be at least substantially frustoconical, wherein the area is contained within the tire sealant container, wherein the lower area of the adapter is connected to an upper area of the adapter, which projects upwards beyond the lid-side upper container section, via a circumferential, in particular groove-shaped, edge area of the adapter.
[0024] It can be seen that the dome-shaped area of the lid-side upper container section, which is convexly curved upwards beyond the upper edge of the upper flange, has an axially central receiving opening into which the adapter is inserted and held.
[0025] According to design variants, in particular the last-mentioned embodiment of the tire sealant container according to the disclosure, it is provided that an edge region of the axially central receiving opening of the dome-shaped area of the lid-side upper container section, which is in particular convexly curved upwards beyond the upper edge of the upper flange edge, is pressed, in particular bent, preferably flanged into the circumferential, in particular groove-shaped edge region of the adapter, preferably with intermediate clamping of a circumferential seal.
[0026] Alternatively or additionally, the edge area of the axially central receiving opening of the dome-shaped area of the lid-side upper container section, which is in particular convexly curved upwards beyond the upper edge of the upper flange edge, can have at least partially or in certain areas a cross-sectional contour that is at least partially or in certain areas complementary to a cross-sectional contour of the circumferential, in particular groove-shaped, edge area of the adapter.
[0027] It is particularly appreciated that the circumferential, especially groove-shaped, edge area of the adapter has a circular segment-shaped cross-sectional contour.
[0028] According to embodiments of the tire sealant container as disclosed, it is provided that the edge region of the axially central receiving opening of the domed area of the lid-side upper container section, which is in particular convexly curved upwards beyond the upper edge of the upper flange edge, is bent outwards with respect to the axially central receiving opening.
[0029] The upper part of the adapter features a centrally located push-fit connector. However, other types of connectors are also possible, such as a bayonet or claw coupling. The adapter's connection allows for the detachable attachment of a connecting line, particularly a hose.
[0030] The adapter preferably has a riser pipe, which is in particular designed as a single piece with the adapter and extends from the lower area of the adapter towards the bottom-side lower container section and has an axially central fluid channel.
[0031] It can be seen that the axially central, at least partially or in sections projecting upwards upper area of the adapter has a fluid channel which is designed to be coaxial and / or concentric to the axially central fluid channel of the riser pipe, and which is in fluid communication with the axially central fluid channel of the riser pipe.
[0032] According to implementations of the tire sealant container as disclosed, the adapter of the tire sealant container has a support structure or is associated with a corresponding support structure. Using the support structure, the adapter rests beyond the upper region of the adapter on the domed area of the lid-side upper container section, which is convexly curved upwards beyond the upper edge of the upper flange, and particularly on a central region of the domed area of the lid-side upper container section, which is convexly curved upwards beyond the upper edge of the upper flange.
[0033] According to another aspect of the disclosure, it relates to a tire sealant container with a hollow body that is at least partially or partially cylindrical and preferably circular cylindrical, comprising a lower container section on the bottom, an upper container section on the lid, and a shell part that connects the lower container section to the upper container section.
[0034] In this further aspect of the disclosure, it is specifically provided that the bottom-side lower container section of the tire sealant container has a connection for a connecting line, in particular a connecting hose, which is in fluid communication with an air compressor.
[0035] In particular, this aspect of the disclosure provides that the lid-side upper container section has a dome-shaped area which connects to the upper flange edge on the inside via a circumferential, upwardly open groove and is in particular convexly curved upwards beyond an upper edge of the upper flange edge, with an axially central and at least partially or partially upwardly projecting adapter which has a connection for a connecting line, in particular a connecting hose.
[0036] In other words, in this design of the tire sealant container, the compressed air connection of the tire sealant container is provided in the lower section of the container on the bottom side, while the tire sealant outlet in the form of the adapter is located on the upper section of the container on the lid side.
[0037] This has the advantage that the connecting line, through which the tire sealant container is supplied with compressed air, can be shortened, or such a connecting line can be omitted entirely.
[0038] The connection of the bottom-side lower container section is formed in particular by an adapter that is connected to the bottom-side lower container section.
[0039] The connection of the bottom-side lower container section is preferably arranged off-center with respect to a longitudinal direction of the tire sealant container, although other design variants are also conceivable.
[0040] The lower section of the container, located at the bottom, preferably has a receiving opening into which the connection for the connecting line, which is preferably in fluid connection with an air compressor, is inserted and held.
[0041] It can be seen that an edge area of the receiving opening of the bottom-side lower container section is preferably pressed into the connection for the connecting line, which is preferably in fluid connection with an air compressor, preferably with an intermediate clamping of a circumferential seal.
[0042] The edge of the receiving opening of the bottom section of the container may be bent towards the top section of the container on the lid side.
[0043] The connection for the connecting line, which is preferably used in fluid communication with an air compressor, is designed as a female connector. However, other design options are also suitable.
[0044] For stability reasons and to improve the pressure resistance of the tire sealant container, the bottom section of the container should be designed to bend convexly, at least partially or in certain areas, towards the top section of the container on the lid side.
[0045] The tire sealant container contains a liquid tire sealant at atmospheric pressure and within a temperature range of approximately -30 °C to approximately +60 °C, and no propellant gas.
[0046] According to implementations of the tire sealant container as disclosed, the tire sealant container has a total length of about 140 mm to about 250 mm, preferably about 160 mm to about 230 mm, and a maximum diameter of about 50 mm to about 90 mm, preferably about 60 mm to about 75 mm.
[0047] The exemplary embodiment of the tire sealant container 1 according to the present disclosure relates to a tire sealant container 1 for a tire repair kit. The tire sealant container 1 is designed to hold a tire sealant that is liquid at atmospheric pressure and at least within a temperature range of about -30 °C to about +60 °C, whereby no propellant gas is required to dispense the tire sealant.
[0048] The tire sealant container 1 according to the embodiment shown in the drawings has a total length of about 140 mm to about 250 mm, preferably about 160 mm to about 230 mm, and a maximum diameter of about 50 mm to about 90 mm, preferably about 60 mm to about 75 mm.
[0049] In short, the exemplary embodiment of the tire sealant container 1 according to the disclosure is a hollow body which is at least partially or partially circularly cylindrical and is formed from a bottom-side lower container section 2, a lid-side upper container section 3 and a shell part 4 which connects the lower container section 2 with the upper container section 3.
[0050] The upper container section 3 on the lid side is crimped to a lid-side edge region of the shell part 4 with an upper flange 5. A circumferential seal 6 may be formed in the flange 5, although this is not strictly necessary.
[0051] The bottom-side lower container section 2 is flanged to a bottom-side edge area of the shell part 4 with a lower flange edge 7, preferably with the intermediate clamping of a circumferential seal 6.
[0052] As shown, the exemplary embodiment of the tire sealant container 1 according to the disclosure has a dome-shaped area 9 that is convexly curved upwards beyond the upper edge of the upper flange rim 5.
[0053] The convexly upwardly curved dome-shaped area 9 of the lid-side upper container section 3 is connected to the upper flange edge 5 of the tire sealant container 1 via a circumferential, upwardly open groove 8.
[0054] The convexly upwardly curved, dome-shaped area 9 has an adapter 10 which has a connection 11 for a connecting line, in particular a connecting hose, which is axially centered with respect to the tire sealant container 1.
[0055] As can be seen in particular from the sectional view according to Fig. 2 or the detailed view according to Fig. As can be seen in Figure 7, the adapter 10, which has a connection 11 for a connecting cable, is designed as a plastic part. In particular, the adapter 10, which has a connection 11 for a connecting cable, is designed as an injection-molded plastic part.
[0056] Furthermore, the section view shows according to Fig. 2, in particular the detailed view according to Fig. 7, shows that the adapter 10 has a lower section 12 which tapers at least partially or in sections towards the bottom-side lower container section 2 and, when viewed in cross-section, is at least substantially frustoconical. This lower section 12 of the adapter 10 is accommodated within the tire sealant container 1.
[0057] In particular, the detailed view shows that Fig. Figure 7 shows that the lower area 12 of the adapter 10 is connected via a circumferential annular edge area 14 of the adapter 10 to an upper area 13 of the adapter 10, which projects upwards over the lid-side upper container section 3.
[0058] The dome-shaped area 9 of the lid-side upper container section 3, which is convexly curved upwards beyond the upper edge of the upper flange rim 5, has an axially central receiving opening into which the adapter 10 is inserted and held.
[0059] Referring again to the detailed view in Fig. Figure 7 shows that an edge area of the axially central receiving opening of the dome-shaped area 9 of the lid-side upper container section 3, which is convexly curved upwards beyond the upper edge of the upper flange edge 5, is pressed, in particular bent, into the circumferential groove-shaped edge area 14 of the adapter 10 with intermediate clamping of a circumferential seal 6.
[0060] The edge region of the axially central receiving opening of the dome-shaped area 9 of the lid-side upper container section 3, which is convexly curved upwards beyond the upper edge of the upper flange rim 5, has a cross-sectional contour that is complementary to a cross-sectional contour of the circumferential groove-shaped edge region of the adapter 10. Here, a circular segment-shaped cross-sectional contour is used.
[0061] The edge area of the axially central receiving opening of the dome-shaped area 9 of the lid-side upper container section 3, which is convexly curved upwards beyond the upper edge of the upper flange edge 5, is bent outwards with respect to the axially central receiving opening.
[0062] In the exemplary embodiment of the tire sealant container 1 according to the disclosure, as shown in the drawings, the upper region 13 of the adapter 10 has an axially central plug-in coupling connection. However, other types of connections are also conceivable, such as a bayonet connection or a claw coupling connection.
[0063] The axially central plug-in coupling connection 11 of the upper area 13 of the adapter 10 is used to connect a connecting line, in particular a connecting hose.
[0064] The sectional view according to Fig. Figure 2 shows that the adapter 10 of the exemplary embodiment of the tire sealant container 1 according to the disclosure has a riser pipe 16 which is formed integrally with the adapter 10 and extends from the lower region 12 of the adapter 10 towards the bottom lower container section 2 and defines or has an axially central fluid channel 17.
[0065] Furthermore, the sectional view shows according to Fig. 2 and also the detailed view according to Fig. 7, that the axially central, at least partially or partially upwardly projecting upper area 13 of the adapter 10 has a fluid channel 18 which is designed to be coaxial and concentric to the axially central fluid channel 17 of the riser 16 and is in fluid communication with the axially central fluid channel 17 of the riser 16.
[0066] From the illustration according to Fig. 1 and according to Fig. 2 it is evident that the exemplary embodiment of the tire sealant container 1 according to the disclosure has a support structure 19 associated with the adapter 10, beyond which the adapter 10 is supported beyond the upper region 13 of the adapter 10 on a central region of the domed region 9 of the lid-side upper container section 3, which is convexly curved upwards beyond the upper edge of the upper flange edge 5.
[0067] The exemplary embodiment of the tire sealant container 1 according to the disclosure shown in the drawings is in particular also wherein the bottom lower container section 2 has a connection 20 for a connecting line which is in fluid connection with an air compressor or for an outlet of an air compressor.
[0068] The connection 20 of the bottom lower container section 2 is formed by an adapter which is connected to the bottom lower container section 2.
[0069] The top view according to Fig. Figure 3 shows that the connection 20 of the bottom lower container section 2 is arranged off-center with respect to a longitudinal direction of the tire sealant container 1.
[0070] With reference to the detailed view according to Fig. Figure 8 shows that the bottom-side lower container section 2 of the exemplary embodiment of the tire sealant container 1 according to the disclosure has a receiving opening into which the connection 20 for the connecting line, which is preferably in fluid connection with an air compressor or directly with an outlet of an air compressor, is inserted and held.
[0071] In this process, an edge area of the receiving opening of the bottom lower container section 2 is pressed into the connection 11 for the connecting line, which is in fluid contact with the air compressor or for the outlet of the air compressor, under the interposition of a circumferential seal 6.
[0072] The edge area of the receiving opening of the bottom-side lower container section 2 is bent in the direction of the lid-side upper container section 3.
[0073] In the exemplary embodiment of the tire sealant container 1 according to the disclosure, the bottom-side lower container section 2 is designed to bend convexly in the direction of the lid-side upper container section 3.
[0074] The connection 20, which is incorporated in the bottom-side lower container section 2, is specifically designed as a socket plug connector connection part.
