Rear head with vortex oil separator for compressor and electric compressor with vortex oil separator

Abstract

An assembly is provided that is associated with an electric scroll compressor. The electric scroll compressor is configured to compress a refrigerant. The assembly may include a rear head, a refrigerant outlet port, and a swirl oil separator. The rear head defines, at least partially, an outlet volume. The outlet volume is configured to receive mixed oil and pressurized refrigerant. The rear head includes a slot that is adjacent to and in fluid communication with the outlet volume. The refrigerant outlet port is coupled to and integral with the rear head and is in fluid communication with the slot. The slot in the housing is configured to receive the swirl oil separator. The swirl oil separator is configured to receive the mixed oil and refrigerant to separate the oil from the compressed refrigerant.
